Mike Power’s Journey in PRO Drifting and Overcoming Setbacks

Mike Power, a professional drifter, shared his story ahead of the Formula DRIFT event at Orlando Speed World, detailing his path to PRO drifting and the challenges faced after a crash in Long Beach. Originally a BMX enthusiast, Power transitioned to drifting after being introduced to JDM cars by a friend. His passion led him to buy his first car and progress from grassroots drifting to earning his PROSPEC and PRO licenses.

This season, Power introduced a striking flame-themed livery inspired by old-school choppers and NASCAR aesthetics, aiming to embody a “man on fire” mindset. However, a crash at Long Beach, caused by losing grip over rumble strips, caused significant damage to his car. Initially, repairs seemed manageable, but the extent of the damage forced him to miss the FD Atlanta round to ensure the car and his confidence were fully restored. Missing a round impacted his season standings, sponsor relations, and valuable seat time, but Power prioritized a strong comeback.

At Orlando Speed World, Power is eager to return to driving, reconnect with fans, and achieve strong results with his team and girlfriend by his side.
